Restricted content

Some Loombre libraries can be marked as restricted — set up by whoever runs your Loombre for content that shouldn't be visible to everyone in the household by default, or that needs an extra step before it's shown. Nothing about this is meant to be uncomfortable to use; here's exactly how it works.

What "restricted" means

Restricted items never appear in your regular library at all — not in search, not on the home screen, not in "recently added" — whether locked or unlocked. They live entirely in their own separate area, the restricted zone, and even that zone stays closed to you until every one of the following is true:

1. Restricted content is turned on for your Loombre at all. It's off by default. Ask whoever set up your Loombre if you're not sure.
2. You're old enough. Your account needs a birth date on file showing you're an adult.
3. You've chosen to opt in, yourself. Nobody can do this for you, including whoever administers your Loombre — you turn it on and set your own PIN, separate from your regular password. No one else can see or set that PIN.
4. You've been given access to that specific library. Being an adult who has opted in isn't enough by itself — whoever administers your Loombre also has to grant you access to each restricted collection.
5. You've entered your PIN since you last signed in. Even with all of the above, restricted content stays locked until you enter your PIN, and it locks again automatically after a while.

Unlocking

The first time you try to open restricted content since you last signed in, you'll be asked for your PIN. Once you enter it correctly, restricted content stays available for a while — after that, it locks again automatically and you'll be asked for your PIN the next time. You can also lock it again yourself at any time if you want to put it away sooner.

Forgot your PIN? Whoever runs your Loombre can reset it for you — they still can't see or choose it, resetting just clears it so you can pick a new one yourself the next time you opt in.

Your privacy

Restricted content is designed to be genuinely private, not just hidden behind a click:

• It never appears in your everyday search results, browsing, or "recently added" — for anyone, ever. Unlocking doesn't mix restricted content into your regular library; it only opens the separate restricted zone, which is kept apart from the rest of your library the whole time.
• Nothing about a restricted item — its title, its image, even that it exists — is sent to a device that hasn't unlocked it.

Turning this on

Restricted content stays completely hidden — no entry in the sidebar, no link anywhere — until all three of these are true for your account:

1. A birth date on your profile. The age check reads it; without one the answer is always "no". Set it under Profile.
2. Opted in, with a PIN. From your account settings under Restricted content.
3. Access to a restricted library. Whoever administers your Loombre creates a library with the content class Restricted and grants you access to it — this applies to administrators' own accounts too.

If you have done your two and still see nothing, the third is the one to ask about.
